Ms. Reisner is the managing member of Susan Canter Reisner, LLC and she has practiced in the area of employee benefits & executive compensation law for over 30 years.
Prior to starting her own firm, she was a partner in the employee benefit practice at King & Spalding in Atlanta, Georgia, where she spent most of her legal career.
Ms. Reisner has been recognized in The Best Lawyers in America every year since 2006. She is a former member of the Steering Committee and a former Legislative Chair of the Southern Employee Benefits Conference.
Ms. Reisner has advised plan sponsors in designing, drafting, implementing and administering all types of employee benefit plans. These plans include pension plans (both traditional plans and “cash balance plans”), profit sharing plans, 401(k) plans, 403(b) plans, leveraged ESOPs, stock option plans, stock purchase plans, incentive compensation programs, “rabbi” trusts, flexible spending plans, medical plans and VEBAs.
Ms. Reisner has significant experience with executive compensation issues, including compliance with 409A. She regularly advises clients with regard to equity plans, employment agreements, nonqualified deferred compensation plans, change in control agreements, severance plans, separation agreements and retention agreements.
She has also helped many clients with employee benefit and executive compensation matters in connection with mergers and acquisitions. Ms. Reisner’s other representations include matters before the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), the Department of Labor (DOL) and the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (PBGC). These matters include submission of requests for voluntary compliance resolution, resolving DOL and IRS audits and responding to subpoenas and other inquiries from the IRS, DOL and PBGC.
Ms. Reisner is a magna cum laude graduate of Yale University (with honors in her economics major) and an honors graduate of Duke University School of Law.
